The lighting
Garage lighting works in three layers: an even ambient level across the ceiling so there are no dark corners, task light directly over the bench where you actually look at things, and accent light for the parts of the room you want noticed. Most garages have one of the three, hung in the middle, casting a shadow exactly where you are working.

- Linked LED battens for an even ceiling wash — the ambient layer, which is the one we are missing
- A feature or linear fitting for over a bar or bench, not just a work light
- Something dimmable, so the room has an evening setting as well as a working one
