Overhead
Above the car is the biggest unused volume in a garage, and the least contested — nothing else wants it. The constraint is rarely the ceiling: it is the door. An up-and-over or sectional door sweeps through the space it hangs in, so the usable height is measured under the door track, not under the ceiling, and it is measured with the car in place.
